What Is Acupuncture? Acupuncture, Health, and Healing

Posted by on Jan 10, 2012

Jay Callender (For More Information Call Jay At 707-829-5900) is a graduate of the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine with thirty-seven years of varied and continuous traditional martial arts training, as well as a licensed acupuncturist currently in practice at the Amitabha Medical Clinic and Healing Center in Sebastopol, California. Acupuncture is one of several modalities of Chinese medicine, in which hair-thin needles are inserted at various points of the body to restore energetic balance. Jay performs acupuncture mainly on cancer patients at Amitabha, helping to relieve the many side effects of chemotherapy and radiation—maladies such as dizziness, vertigo, pain, emotional disorders, and edema have also responded very well to his treatments. He explains that his philosophy is that “less is more.” While some acupuncturists might choose to use many needles on a new patient, Jay prefers to get to know his patient and understand the true root of the problem—meaning that fewer needles will be required to produce the same effect. Healing – Freedom From the Burden Of Abortion

Posted by on Nov 1, 2011

www.RachelsVineyard.org Fr. Frank Pavone, Pastoral Director of Rachel’s Vineyard, gives some reflections about the Rachel’s Vineyard retreats. In this video Fr. Frank explains that the Rachel’s Vineyard retreats are ultimately about freedom. He goes on to tell of one of the tools used on the retreat to symbolize this: the rock. As participants on a Rachel’s Vineyard retreat, we are given a rock to carry with us throughout the day, and this rock is to represent “…the burdens that accompany us at every moment, every circumstance, at every opportunity of the day.” At some point during the retreat comes “…the moment where we find the inner freedom, the inner strength to put that rock aside, or to throw it away, to part with it in whatever way seems appropriate to us. This is a powerful symbol of life’s journey. So many of our burdens are in our own hands to either hold onto or cast away. It really is about the freedom to say no, I’m not going to let this particular circumstance or problem enslave me anymore.” “Rachel’s Vineyard weekends are really all about freedom The Lord says to us in Scripture ‘If the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.’ Let the Lord Jesus take our burdens away and let us together proclaim to others that they can have that freedom too.”
