The tradition of naturopathic medicine has its roots in the European nature cure movement of the nineteenth century. This book elegantly captures the growth of this tradition in a dicipline through the stories of doctors wilderness. This is not a dry history. It is a story of principles and methods of naturopathic medicine through the life stories of men and women who developed it. What I liked most about the book were the quotes. These doctors have been kind of colorful characters who does not mince his words at the medical facility – “The Jesuits pill and poisoners” of their time

Although the presentation of the material may appear dry for those looking for juicy contraversies / “issues” in medicine, the book will prove to be quite tasty indeed for those seeking historical facts in the development of naturopathy
in the U.S. This book is essential reading for those wishing to enter the historical record of roots in naturopathy and orientation designed to alter the practice of medicine. Lust, the founder of naturopathy, has not been blinded by idealism in the sense that a doctor must use what was historically known as the natural / alternative therapies. Instead, he insisted that the doctor of the future will be a regular doctor who changed his (or her) means is that the use of drugs and methods that have historically proved deserving and adopt and integrate new, well-founded knowledge in science and medicine as well.

There are so few data on the history of naturopathic medicine, this book is a great gift. This is not exactly written as an action adventure driving, but it’s history, and people discussed are revealed in many fascinating aspects and many levels. A must read for anyone interested in the field.

In this book the authors provide a detailed survey of the various single founders of naturopathic medicine, defined by them as “the application of the principles of naturopathy in the context of modern scientific knowledge has evolved over the last half of this century. “They suggest that” With the return of his appeal to nature! Rousseau should be regarded as the spiritual father of the movement heal nature. “
The book contains separate chapters on 22 pioneers of natural medicine, including Vincent Priessnitz (the” Father of Hydrotherapy “), Sebastian Kneipp (” the world more famous Dr. Kind “), Louis Kuhne, Adolf Just, Heinrich Lahmann (First Nature said Dr. Science”), Benedict and Louisa Lust (“Father” and “matriarch” of naturopathy) Lindlahr Henry (“Founder of scientific naturopathy “), and John Bastyr (” father of modern naturopathic medicine “). I am not aware of any detailed study along these practitioners.
The book is filled with fascinating details, such as Mahatma Gandhi wrote that “the writings of Kuhne , Just and the Father are Kniepp simple, popular and useful for everybody. “Regarding the origin of the term naturopathy, the authors note that” came to the attention of Lust in a competition, ” and “was selected from 150 submitted.”
This book is highly recommended for anyone interested in the origin and development of naturopathic medicine.

It is an interesting story in medicine in the 1800s and early 1900s, and interesting questions to ponder. Unfortunately, this book is the story uninteresting, the characters in two dimensions, and the questions are really not treated at all.
You’d better look at history through a lens other than this book.
