Is reflexology a complementary or alternative medicine practice? and why?

It’s an alternative medicine practice in and of itself, and it can be complimentary to other therapies you may be taking as they can be done at the same time and are both beneficial

A dream said to eat rice & vinegar at room temp. What does this mean from a dietetic or Chinese medicine view

Posted by admin on Jun 30, 2009

I have a gastrointestinal problem that few U.S. doctors are familiar with. So I turned to my dreams to help me find out what is wrong and what treatments are needed (I am a psychologist). The dreams have been invaluable in guiding me to answers which have been very difficult to find. Last night I had the dream cited above and I need help in translating it into very real terms. For example, previous dreams told me not to eat bread, coconuts, fruit, or honey. What all of theses have in common is fructose–and since then it’s been verified that I have an intolerance to fructose. This knowledge has guided me to this little known disorder and has allowed me to regain my health through effective treatment. So what might the present dream mean? What about the substances rice and vinegar might be important to my recovery? Why room temperature? Also, I was guided to eat at least part of it once it was a day old? What can all this mean in a dietary or health sense?

This is purely theoretical.

Rice, in the system of food cures, is categorized as neutral and sweet. Because it is sweet, it is considered to be a Spleen and Qi tonic. However, too much sweet food (breads, fruits, etc) is damaging to the Spleen. Eating COOKED foods (I think that is the symbolism of the day old food, it is cooked longer) at room temperature is tonifying to the Spleen, because it takes less energy to digest them. The Spleen is also the regulator of the five tastes. The Spleen is correlated with the earth element, food and the act of eating. In Chinese medicine, you will want to research the Spleen organ and meridian as all aspects of your dream lead to it (note: the Chinese medicine Spleen is not the same as the western medicine spleen).

Vinegar is considered sour, and sour is correlated with the Liver. Vinegar is categorized as being cold. A sour taste in the mouth can be a sign of Liver excess in Chinese medicine. I would start by researching the Spleen, then moving on to examine the Liver.

Also, in Chinese medicine "dream disturbed sleep" is seen as unhealthy. I think dreams can guide you, but I caution you against cultivating them. Balance is the key in all things.

what can people do to help get alternative health covered if we ever go to a national health care program in?

Posted by admin on Jun 30, 2009

the us and would this lead to it being harder to get alternative supplements or would it be better as more could afford it and how can we be sure people who know what they are doing and not doctors administer and prescribe and prevent alternative health care and preventive medicine from being used only as weak "complimentary" medicine and not for the powerhouse it can be..in other words, how can we get it so real alternative health is used for serious problems too and not just to relax or some minor use like they do now when trying to jump on the natural health bandwagon and demand but not dent their power and profits
alternative health is usually much cheaper than medical treatments and as one said they can prevent small problems form becoming big ones or developing at all..they are actually in the interest of both the person and the insurance company. In Ohio we are trying to get single payer on the ballot and it is super easy to get people to sign the petition to get it on the ballot but I am sure they will spend tons to scare people off or rig the vote but this plan is to include both preventative and alternative health,

As a person who relies totally on the use of cares other than Allopathic, and does not carry any health insurance at all – on purpose – I will run as far and fast from government provided funds for any of the remedies or methods I use. That would just push the cost of care up, add regulation to it, and basically destroy its helpfulness. The reason the alternatives to allopathic care are cheaper is because it is a first party payer system. We know how much we are paying, and won’t pay too much just because some third party takes an amount out of our paycheck to cover it.

How can you cure psoriasis without the crazy Diet? I have read HEALING PSORIASIS: The Natural Alternative.?

Posted by admin on Jun 29, 2009

The diet in HEALING PSORIASIS: The Natural Alternative is to restrictive. Please help, the diet works but I can't do it.

Hello there. The connection between psoriasis and food is not clear: nobody knows for sure if dieting helps at all. You can try one of the natural remedies available online: just google "natural remedy for psoriasis" and take your pick. Some of them do actually work. For my plaque psoriasis the herbal cream by Champori works the best: it takes about 2 weeks to clear the patches and then they stay clear for months on end. Try it: champori comes with money back guarantee so if it doesn't work for you – it's free.
Cheers,
Stella

What makes Ted Elden the Extraordinaire a genius? ?

Posted by admin on Jun 29, 2009

I want to be smart like this guy. He writes poetry. Reads many books. He is so efficient at all the things he does. Just imagine if every one was driven at his speed, what we could accomplish as a human race. He told me I was silly to pay attention to him. I like him because he seems to care deeply about people. Yes he thinks different than most, but he stands out like no one else.

What Do I offer ? – an introduction to my fascinating friends –

I read an ancient East Indian document years ago that put forward the thought that the ideal woman should have (I think it was 21) different talents. From the way it was written it felt as if the author was talking about a member of the richer classes.

I held on to this belief and have treated myself as the person requiring this regime. If someone else can do it then so can I. I have succeeded in this and feel no requirement to stand still at 21.

Beware of your heroes. Worship nobody. If they have wisdom to offer then accept it gratefully. Do not feel that they are superior to you. Everyone is unique and it is their uniqueness that makes them everyone else’s equal. Every person has something to offer that the company they are in does not have.

Above all; do not look for your limits. If you search, you will find. It is faith in yourself that makes you succeed in everything you do. Nobody is a genius. Only more up on a subject than others.

Herbal remedies to aid studying and concentration before exams?

Posted by admin on Jun 29, 2009

I’ve heard of many herbal and harmless remedies, which apparently aid one’s concentration prior to exams and possibly even increase the amount one can learn in the same amount of time.

Is there anything you would recommend, that you’ve heard of or better tried and would vouch for it’s effectiveness?

Thanks,
Uzi2491.

Hey buddy. For memory loss try eating more foods rich in Vitamin B1 (thiamine) ie ~ brewer's yeast, whole grain breads and cereals, meat (pork or liver), nuts, legumes such as peas, beans and lentils and potatoes.

also take a multi B complex supplement including all the B's ie ~ B1, B2, B3, B5, B6 and B12 as they work best as a group.

The need for B1 (and the B complex) increases when we are stressed, during illnes and surgery. B1 has beneficial effects on the nervous system and mental attitude and will also aid in digestion and keep nervous system, muscles and heart functioning normally………… The B complex of vitamins will help bolster your system so as you can better deal with the everyday little dramas life presents for us… don't take any of the B complex of vitamins individually but rather as a whole group as they work best together …. unless of course directly told to do so by a nutritionally oriented physician or naturopath ♥

It is a water soluble complex and as such our bodies can neither produce or store them. Therefore we need to ingest them on a daily basis or suffer the side affects.

Also, an L-glutamine supplement taken 3 times daily on an empty stomach will also bolster a healthy immune and nervous system and assist in maintaining muscle function……. it also helps maintain the health of intestinal flora and thus is a digestive aid ♥ Glutamine is a natural amino acid and a naturally occuring antioxidant and has brilliant brain boosting abilities .

Other nutrients which are said to enhance your memory and make you smarter are ~ Vitamine E, grapeseed extract, lipoic acid, Vitamin B3 (niacin), Vitamin B6 (pyridoxine), vitamin B12 (cobalamin),folic acid, choline, gingko biloba, gotu kola ………… obviously none of them will turn you into Albert Einsteen but you'll surely start remembering more buddy……… take care of you ♥

The herb rosemary ~ crisp and clean smelling ~ is great for stimulating the brain, improving memory and mental clarity, while helping with a variety of congested respiratory tract problems, stiff muscles, coldness as well as boosting the liver and gall bladder. It is also used for improving hair and scalp health.

Rosemary is a traditional herb for good memory, clear thinking and confidence.

Get some organic rosemary herb from your local health food store and put 1 – 2 teaspoons full into a teapot, fill with hot water and leave to brew for 15 – 20 minutes ………….. the taste is a touch bland so sweeten to taste with honey or squeeze some lemon juice into it ……. or even add another herb such as peppermint leaves to spice up the taste.

Only organic will do though, as the teabag and commercial varieties have had so much of the goodness pulverised from them that they could never be of any therapeutic value…… besides, as the essential oils are so rich and potent still in the organic varieties, you can reuse the spent leaves by simply retopping the pot with hot water and leaving to brew for another 15 – 20 minutes ♥

Please remember to drink loads of fresh filtered water too as you still need 2 – 3 litres per day of water ♥

take care of you ♥

What are your ideas for a distinctive motto or phrase for Naturopathic medicine? ?

Posted by admin on Jun 29, 2009

My idea would be something that defines, describes that type of practice. Something that gives hope but not promises, progression to healing.

I’m in school for naturopathic medicine and names for my potential business keep cropping up:

Alpha2Omega Health Clinic

Health2U

stuff like that.

Love ya,
Jerome

Has anyone had any luck with natural healing from endometetriosis?

Posted by admin on Jun 29, 2009

I am considering having the surgery because i have been in severe pain for months- but i would like to try some herbal or natural remedies first. Has anyone had any luck at all with this- or is my only option surgery? (i refuse to take the shot)

Contrary to common misconceptions about the disease, there is no cure. There are, however, several methods of treatment which may alleviate some of the pain and symptoms.

How Supplements Can Help

You can begin with daily doses of two herbs traditionally paired together: chasteberry and dong quai. They can help balance hormones that cause endometrial pain. They also relax the uterus, a benefit also true of the herb wild yam.

Because endometriosis is thought to be a condition of "estrogen excess," taking a daily lipotropic combination, which makes the liver more efficient at clearing extra estrogen from the body, can help. A suggested combination might contain milk thistle, choline, inositol hexaniacinate, methionine, and dandelion.

In high doses, calcium and magnesium can relieve menstrual pain by lowering levels of prostaglandins (body chemicals produced by the uterine cells that cause cramps). If you decide to take a high-dose calcium/magnesium supplement for painful cramps, take it only during your period.

Other supplements, which you can include simply because they have so many positive effects throughout the body, may also help with endometriosis. Vitamin E balances hormones, reduces inflammation, and boosts the immune system.

Evening primrose oil (or the less expensive borage oil) and flaxseed oil provide essential fatty acids that help control inflammation and block cramp-causing prostaglandins.

Vitamin C can hasten the healing of tissues damaged by cysts and scarring; it also helps control heavy bleeding by strengthening capillary walls.

Consider acupuncture treatments. This therapy, in conjunction with Chinese herbs, has been seen to alter and balance the body's hormones and to provide pain relief for endometriosis.

What field should I go into, if I want to study Energy Medicine (alternative medicine)?

Posted by admin on Jun 29, 2009

I really wanna study "energy medicine" or "biofield science" which is a subdivision of complementary and alternative medicine. I want to be both a researcher and a practitioner. But I have no idea which direction to take. Please help me by giving recommendations and advices! I'm currently in an undergraduate college that doesn't have this degree. So should I major in Biology, Biomedicine,Psychology, Neuroscience, Premed, or Physical Therapy? Or do you know any good schools that offer this degree? Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated. Thanks!

That would be 'fake college'. No accredited schools offer degrees in that (in the US). That's because it doesn't work. Study after study have shown that's it's no more than the placebo effect. If you want to help people, great. Go for nursing or pre-med. If you want to scam people, you can get degrees in that stuff from the back of a magazine.
